Centipede
1980 Atari Incorporated
Year Acquired: 2005
This game was acquired on a road trip with Dave, who picked up a few games himself. This was non-working and the side art was in pretty poor shape. I sent the PCB to Mike's Arcade for repair and decided to restore the cabinet since it was sitting unused for awhile. The bezel, CPO and marquee were in great shape, the sides and front needed a quart sized can of Bondo before the new art from Phoenix Arcade was applied. Currently there is a Millipede board in the machine with a Multipede kit, which can play Centipede and Millipede.
In Centipede, the player controls a gun that can only move in the bottom fifth of the screen. The object is to shoot a centipede that works its way down to the player area through a field of mushrooms. Other attacking enemies are fleas, spiders, and scorpions. Millipede is a faster paced game with many additional insects to blast at.
