Gumball (and Capsule) Machines
Hit The Target - 1950 B&O
This is a penny gumball machine. You insert your penny and turn
the handle. Your gum comes out the shoot and your penny works it's
way down the peg field in front. If it ends up in the center (on target)
you get your penny back!
Titan - 1963 Oak Manufacturing
This is the grand-daddy of today's large gumball machines - standing
at a little over three feet tall. If the operator filled up the machine
all the way, the gumballs would lock themselves in place and none would
come out. Due to this design flaw, most of these machines ended up
in the scrap yard. If you pay close attention to the large vendors
today, they have a large hollow spot in the middle. This is so they
do not meet the same fate as the Titan.
